What are the differences between flanged and wafer butterfly valves?

Wafer butterfly valves have no flanges and are clamped by pipe flanges with stud bolts.

Flanged butterfly valves have integral flanges, similar to ordinary gate valves.

They are used for gas regulation and shut-off in sulfuric acid industry:

blower inlets/outlets, mist eliminators, SO₂ blowers, converters, preheaters, etc.

Suitable for sulfur burning, conversion and drying sections in sulfuric acid plants.

Features: excellent sealing, smooth operation, corrosion & high temperature resistance, easy and safe operation. Widely applied.

Flanged butterfly valves feature simple structure, compact size and light weight, with few components.

They open/close quickly by 90° rotation, offering easy operation and excellent flow control.

The disc is installed along the pipe diameter and rotates 0–90°; at 90°, the valve is fully open.

In full open position, disc thickness causes low flow resistance and small pressure drop, ensuring good flow control.

Two sealing types: elastic and metal.

Elastic seals can be embedded in the body or mounted around the disc.
